Why we are building it
Pakistan’s commerce web is much larger and more varied than a list of household names. Independent designers, category specialists, marketplaces and digital-first brands all contribute to it, yet comparable information about their web presence is fragmented.
We are creating shared market infrastructure: a living directory and ranking system that can make discovery easier, help operators benchmark responsibly and give researchers a clearer picture of local digital commerce.
What the index means today
The current product is an early public prototype. It combines a broad seed directory with repeatable observations of public website signals. An “observed” score reflects evidence our systems have measured; a baseline score is an initial estimate used while coverage is being validated.
Scores are not traffic estimates. They do not yet measure sales, orders or customer satisfaction, and a high position is not an endorsement. Each iteration will make the evidence, freshness and confidence behind a result easier to inspect.

From website index to market intelligence
We plan to expand store coverage, collect observations on a consistent schedule and publish a versioned methodology. Later, store owners may choose to verify selected aggregate metrics through narrowly authorized connections. Verified data will be labelled separately from estimates and public observations.
Country and category rankings become credible only when coverage, freshness and signal quality reach a published threshold. Until then, the product will continue to say “prototype” and distinguish baselines from real observations.
Help shape the map
Store owners and community members can submit missing domains, suggest the right category or request a factual correction from the ranking page. Individual designer stores belong here alongside major retailers and marketplaces when they operate a genuine e-commerce website serving Pakistan.
